Dear Parents / Carers

Next week is 'World Nursery Rhyme Week' (13th-17th November) and as Nursery Rhymes play an important role in the early development of language and communication, social, mathematical, physical and emotional skills, we are participating in the 'Rhyme a Day Challenge'. This means that we will be teaching the children a new Nursery Rhyme every day. We would appreciate it if you also joined in with us by encouraging your child to sing the rhymes at home. The songs that we will be teaching are attached and you can also find the songs with the accompanying music on YouTube.

We hope you have fun!

Monday 13th November -  'Bobby Shafto'.

Bobby Shafto’s gone to sea,

Silver buckles on his knee;

He’ll come back and marry me,

Bonny Bobby Shafto!

Bobby Shafto’s tall and fair,

Combing down his yellow hair;

He’s my love for ever more,

Bonny Bobby Shafto!

Bobby Shafto’s gone to sea,

Silver buckles on his knee;

He’ll come back and marry me,

Bonny Bobby Shafto!

Bobby Shafto’s tall and slim,

Always looks so neat and trim;

All the lasses look at him,

Bonny Bobby Shafto!

Bobby Shafto’s gone to sea,

Silver buckles on his knee;

He’ll come back and marry me,

Bonny Bobby Shafto!

Tuesday 14th November: ‘Lavenders Blue’.

Call up your men, dilly dilly,

Set the to work.

Some to the plough, dilly dilly,

Some to the fork.

Some to make hay, dilly dilly,

Some to the corn.

While you and I, dilly dilly,

Keep ourselves warm.

Lavender's green, dilly dilly,

Lavender's blue.

You will love me, dilly dilly,

I will love you.

Friday 17th November: ‘Old King Cole'.

Old King Cole was a merry old sole and a merry old sole was he,

He called for his pipe and he called for his bowl and he called for his fiddlers three.

Now every fiddler had a fine fiddle and a very fine fiddle had he.

Fiddle iddle, iddle iddle ee went the fiddlers,

Fiddle iddle  ee  fiddle ee,

There's none so rare as can compare,

As King Cole and his fiddlers three.

Old King Cole was a merry old sole and a merry old sole was he,

He called for his pipe and he called for his bowl and he called for his drummers three.

Now every drummer had a fine drum and a very fine drum had he.

Rum diddy dum diddy dum went the drummers,

Fiddle iddle, iddle iddle ee went the fiddlers,

Fiddle iddle  ee  fiddle ee,

There's none so rare as can compare,

As King Cole and his fiddlers three.

Children had a wonderful first hand opportunity to meet and handle a range of interesting creatures in school! All children were surprisingly brave and asked thoughtful questions about the animals. Afterwards they were keen to draw pictures of their favourite creature.

Please have a look at our Gallery

A huge, warm thank you to all Grandparents and parents of our F1 Hedgehogs who joined in and supported the celebration of National Grandparents day, organised by our very clever School Councillors.

Grandparents were shown around the EYFS setting by their, very confident Grandchildren, joined in play at their Grandchild's favourite activity and then found a comfy spot to share a story together.

It was lovely to meet you all and to see how proud both Grandparents and grandchildren were to share these magic moments together!
