LOCAL GOVERNANCE

The Governing Body of Maltby Lilly Hall Academy carry out a range of significant duties, working closely with the Principal and the Academy’s Leadership Team and staff. Its primary purpose is to set policies and to support the Academy’s management in carrying them out, ensuring that the school is as effective as possible in the education it provides for our children.

Amongst the specific responsibilities of the Governing Body are the following:

  • Helping to develop school policies and development plans
  • Setting statutory targets and assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of the school’s effectiveness
  • Overseeing the school budget
  • Appointing staff

The detailed monitoring of school improvement is undertaken by the Raising Attainment Committee whilst a separate working group reviews and monitors Safeguarding and Health & Safety. Chair of the Governing Body and any subcommittees are elected annually.

Some of our governors are appointed as members of the local community, some are nominated by the Local Authority, some are parents and some are members of the school staff.
